As the endangered Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis, 扬子鳄) is quite prolific in captivity, there are now a total captive population of over 10,000 animals cultivated in the Anhui Research Centre of Chinese Alligator Reproduction. It is so crowded there that more than 450 alligators are seen here resting on the platforms in a pond with the original designed capacity of only 14 animals.
