John Mason and his runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks
Jennifer (Carol) Wilbanks is a runaway bride. Jennifer Wilbanks who was born on August 25, 1973, gained an international notoriety when she ran away from home in Duluth, Geogia on April 26, 2005, in an effort to avoid her wedding with John Mason, her fiancé, on April 30. Jennifer Wilbanks' disappearance sparked a nationwide search but later turned out a drama. And because of his repeating of the false claims that she been kidnapped and sexually assaulted, Jennifer Wilbanks was indicted (see mugshot below, via) in a felony charge and later sentenced to two years' probation and 120 hours of community service. As a result, Jennifer Wilbanks and John Mason canceled their engagement. On March 15, 2008, John Mason, married another woman, Shelley Martin, in a quiet ceremony at his parents' home in Duluth.
