OJ Simpson Convicted: OJ Simpson Found Guilty of Las Vegas Hotel Memorabilia Burglary in 2007

OJ Simpson Convicted: OJ Simpson Found Guilty of Las Vegas Hotel Memorabilia Robbery in 2007! OJ Simpson, the former NFL footballer who got acquitted in 1995 for murdering wife Nicole Brown Simpson, was convicted Friday Oct. 3 in Las Vegas for a confrontation happened at the sin city's Palace Station Hotel-Casino in September, 2007.

The 61-year-old Heisman Trophy winner was found guilty on all 12 counts, including conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping, burglary, robbery, assault and coercion, by nine of jurors, none of them were black compared to eight out of twelve when he was cleared of crimes in 2005.

OJ Simpson who was said to appeal now faces up to 25 years or life in the prison. He will be sentenced on December 5, 2008.

O. J. Simpson was found guilty late Friday on all 12 counts stemming from a confrontation in a hotel room last year, including armed robbery and kidnapping.

The verdict, which comes 13 years to the day after Mr. Simpson was acquitted in the highly publicized murders of his ex-wife and her friend, concluded a four-week trial that many have seen as a proxy for those unsatisfied by that 1995 outcome.

Mr. Simpson now faces 15 years to life for the kidnapping charge as well as a minimum of at least an additional 10 years in prison on the other charges. His attorney, Yale Galanter, said he would appeal.

After the verdicts were read, the judge revoked the bail for Mr. Simpson, a Heisman Trophy winner and an inductee in the National Football Hall of Fame. As his sister, Carmelita, wept and fainted in the front row, he was led away in handcuffs. Mr. Simpson is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 5.

The charges arose after Mr. Simpson led five cohorts on a raid of a guest room at the Palace Station Hotel-Casino and departed with hundreds of memorabilia items related to the sports careers of Mr. Simpson and three other athletes.

The items were in the possession of two memorabilia dealers, Bruce L. Fromong and Alfred Beardsley, who were led to believe that a prospective buyer was coming to browse the goods. Instead, Mr. Simpson and his group burst into the room. According to several witnesses, at least one gun was brandished.

The presence of a weapon adds years to the minimum sentences for 9 of the 12 charges, which also included conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping, burglary, robbery, assault and coercion.

The jury of nine women and three men deliberated for 13 hours, mulling weeks of testimony as well as hours of surreptitious audio recordings of the planning and execution of the event by Thomas Riccio, a memorabilia auctioneer who arranged the confrontation.

There were no blacks among the jurors, a concern of the defense that Mr. Simpson’s attorneys said would likely be part of an appeal. Eight of 12 jurors were black when he was acquitted in 1995 on charges that he stabbed to death his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

Convicted alongside Mr. Simpson, 61, was Clarence Stewart, 54, one of the five men who accompanied Mr. Simpson in the raid. Mr. Stewart faces the same sentences.

Chris Cooley's blog Chriscooley47 was usually maintained by brother Tanner, but on the day his team against New Orleans Saints he decided to write up a post by himself.  During preparing the entry before the game, apparently, Chris Cooley went nude and took a picture of the playbook placed on his lap. In an drama end, a careless Cooley unwisely uploaded an image with his penis shown at the picture bottom onto the blogspot blog and (unintentionally) kept it there for the whole day. The problematic nude picture which caused the concern of Christy Oglevee (Chris Cooley's wife) was later deleted but picked up by other blogs and now wildly circulated online. Chris Cooley had made an apology for the faux pas.  Click here for the censored picture and here an uncensored one. The full story can be read at Washington Post

Evan Tanner Death: Evan Tanner Found Dead in Californian Desert

Evan Tanner Death: Evan Tanner Found Dead in Californian Desert!

Evan Tanner [wikipedia], a former UFC middleweight champion, has died. His body was found in California's Palo Verde mountain area near the Arizona border on Monday. The 37 year old fighter was on a desert camping trip since Sept. 2. Two days later on Sep. 4, Evan Tanner, pictured above, SMSed a friend to tell that he was running out of water and gas for his vehicle. He was officially reported missing on Sep. 5, and the Imperial County law enforcement launched a search in the bid to locate him. Something tragically happened on Sep 8, when a sheriff deputy finally found Evan Tanner, but only noticing Tanner dead for some time. Source: Former UFC champion Tanner found dead in desert @ Canada.com

Update: Evan Tanner death cause might be heat exposure, TMZ.com noted:
There's something weird about this case. Tanner blogged that going into the desert could be life-threatening and he needed the proper equipment. Water should be the first thing that comes to mind, yet he was almost immediately in need of H2O.

Nevertheless, 110+ degree heat is always dangerous. Sad story.

Picture: Michael Phelps "Wardrobe Malfunction"

michael phelps ‘wardrobe malfunction’ picture

Michael Phelps wardrobe malfunction? Ummm...:-) The undeniable greatest swimmer in the history Michael Phelps spilled beans on his wardrobe malfunction suffered during the Beijing Olympics. You guys, don't take it for granted! Michael Phelps's wardrobe malfunction did not mean he slipped his Speedo swimsuit and exposed the private parts but the eight gold medalist at one Olympics suffered goggles malfunction during the men's individual 200M Butterfly event in the Games.

"In the 200 m butterfly, water flooded into Michael Phelps’ goggles. Phelps referred to this as a “wardrobe malfunction”. Phelps said that he just did not strap us goggles on properly. Phelps was grateful for the 2sec comfort zone he had on the world going into the race, to make up for this mistake. Phelps swam the last two laps of the 200 butterfly blind because his goggles had filled with water." Stupiedcelebrities.net described.

Anyway, the "wardrobe malfunction" Michael Phelps himself referred to as did not block his trophies in Beijing. For those searching Michael Phelps wardrobe malfunction pictures, the image (via sohu) above showing Michael Phelps put the swimsuit extreme low to a point where his two tatoos (Olympics rings and a capital M [for Michigan]) on lower abs were exposed may entertain you more or less.

Matt Emmons Explained His Bizarre Last Shot of Olympics 50m Rifle 3-Positions

Matthew Emmons at 2008 Beijing Olympics's 50m Rifle 3-Positions shoot final

Matthew Emmons spoiled an opportunity of winning a gold medal at the last shooting event of this Olympics--50m Rifle 3-Positions. Now he explained how he mis-fired the last shot:

"The way I come into a target is I start above the target and come down from 12 o'clock and get into the bullseye.".

"And as I get down into the bullseye is when I start to get on the trigger (with my finger) and as I was starting to get on the trigger, the gun just went off."

"I guess I just set it off. I got on the trigger a little too hard. I didn't feel my trigger shaking but I guess it was. It just hit the trigger, the gun went off and I was like 'uh, that's not going to be good - I hope it hit the black'.

It hit the black, but a little high, he said.

"If the shot had made it all the way down to the bullseye, it'd have been pretty decent."
